Your Questions About Working With Me — Answered Honestly
No fluff, no jargon — just the answers you actually want before reaching out.
If you've been thinking about working together but have a few questions holding you back — this post is for you.
I get asked these questions a lot, and I love answering them. Because honestly, the more you know going in, the better the whole experience tends to be. So let's just talk through it like we're grabbing coffee.
Here are four of the most common questions I hear from potential clients — and my real, honest answers.
How long does a website build actually take?
The honest answer is: it depends — but I'll always give you a clear timeline upfront so you're never left guessing.
For a custom Squarespace website, most projects take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks from start to finish. Semi-custom template projects tend to move a little faster — usually around 1 to 2 weeks.
The biggest factor that affects the timeline? Content. The sooner you have your copy, photos, and service details ready, the sooner we can get moving. That's why I send a detailed questionnaire at the start of every project — it helps us hit the ground running and keeps things from stalling out halfway through.
If you have a launch date in mind, let me know when we chat. I'll always be upfront about what's realistic.
Do I need a brand kit before we start?
Nope — and this is one I want to clear up because I think it stops a lot of people from reaching out before they're ready.
Having a brand kit — your logo, fonts, and color palette — definitely makes the process smoother. But if you don't have one yet, that's totally okay. I offer brand kit services too, so we can build yours before we dive into the website.
A lot of my clients come to me at the very beginning of their branding journey and we figure it all out together. Others come with a partial brand and just need help pulling it into something cohesive.
Wherever you are in the process, we can work with it. You don't need to have everything figured out before you reach out.
What's the difference between a custom site and a semi-custom template?
Great question — and the answer comes down to budget, timeline, and how much customization you need.
A custom Squarespace website is built from scratch, completely tailored to your brand. Every page, every section, every detail is designed specifically for you. It takes more time and investment, but the result is a website that feels 100% unique to your business.
A semi-custom template starts with a professionally designed framework that we then customize with your colors, fonts, photos, and content. It's a more affordable option that still looks polished and put-together — just with a faster turnaround and a lower price point.
Not sure which one is right for you? That's exactly what a discovery call is for. We'll talk through your goals, your budget, and what makes the most sense for where your business is right now.
Can you help me if I already have a website?
Absolutely — and this comes up more than you might think.
Maybe you built your Squarespace site yourself a couple of years ago and it's feeling a little outdated. Maybe your business has evolved and your website just doesn't reflect where you are anymore. Or maybe it's technically fine but something just feels off and you can't quite put your finger on it.
I can help with all of that. Whether it's a full redesign, a refresh of specific pages, or just some tweaks to clean things up — we can absolutely work with what you already have.
You don't need to start from scratch to make a big difference. Sometimes a few targeted changes are all it takes to make your site feel like it actually represents you.
STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
That's what I'm here for. If something came up while you were reading this — or if you have a question I didn't answer — I'd love to hear it.
Book a free discovery call and let's just talk. No pressure, no obligation — just a friendly conversation about where you are, where you want to be, and whether working together makes sense.
